Mick Jagger recently joined an interview with the WSJ. Magazine and clarified his decision to be open about his relationship with Melanie Hamrick.
The Rolling Stones frontman explained why he chose to make it known on social media:
“It’s just a fact of life. But there are boundaries I like to have. People used to post stuff, and everyone would think, whatever girl you’re standing next to… ‘Is that your new girlfriend?’ You know. But everyone knows now.”
The couple has been together since 2014 and celebrated the birth of their son, Deveraux Octavian Basil, in 2016. This is her first child and the eighth for Jagger. Although they’ve been in a relationship for a while, they have not officially become engaged. Sharing her thoughts on marrying the singer in a June interview with the Times, Melanie said:
“I’m neither here nor there.”
However, she’d be open to an offer from the rocker, as she noted:
“I wouldn’t say no.”
Hamrick also revealed that she wears a commitment ring, which is a symbolic piece of jewelry that represents their commitment to each other. The pair’s engagement has been an object of curiosity since then. An official statement from a Rolling Stones representative to The Independent in July said that engagement rumors were ‘misinformed speculation.’
Jagger has children with five different women, including Hamrick. His other children include a 52-year-old daughter named Karis with Marsha Hunt, a 51-year-old daughter named Jade with Bianca Jagger, daughters named Elizabeth and Georgia May, and sons named James and Gabriel with Jerry Hall. He also has a son named Lucas with Luciana Morad Gimenez.
