Serj Tankian Confirms There’s No Plans For New System Of A Down Music

System Of a Down frontman Serj Tankian recently spoke to Loudwire Weekends and revealed that the band isn’t planning to release new music material.
Formed in 1994, System Of a Down achieved commercial success with the release of their five studio albums. Three of these records reached the top of the US Billboard 200 chart. SoaD also won a Grammy for their classic hit ‘B.Y.O.B.’ in 2016 and went on a hiatus the same year.
After reuniting in 2010, System Of a Down released two new songs in 2020 titled ‘Protect The Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz.’ However, they haven’t released a full-length album since their ‘Mesmerize’ and ‘Hypnotize’ albums, released in 2005.
Although the releases ‘Protect The Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ gave SoaD fans hope for a possible new album from the band, they didn’t announce any new music release. In a recent interview with Loudwire Weekends, Serj Tankian cleared the air around this possibility.
During the conversation, the host Todd Fooks asked Serj Tankian whether System Of a Down plans to work on a new album. As a response, Tankian said they have no plans at this time, and he jokingly added that Fooks would be the first one to know.
Asked whether there are plans for new SoaD material, Serj Tankian said the following:
“Not at this time, not at this time. And when we do, you’ll be the first to know.”
