Sebastian Bach recently addressed the growing concern about artificial intelligence in music production. He shared his strong stance against AI-generated music in an interview with Surviving Rocklahoma.

The former Skid Row frontman expressed his commitment to authentic, human-made music as AI technology becomes increasingly prevalent in the industry.

“I got to address this. Especially in the last like three months or so, we’re entering this AI world where musicians are getting very scared because now it seems like anybody can just say into an AI prompt, give me a 70s rock song about partying and chicks and there you go, you get one,” Bach said.

Bach made a firm promise to his fans about his artistic integrity moving forward.

“But all I can tell you is this. I’m just giving you my guarantee and my word that I’ll never do that. I will never give you any AI. I won’t even give you ‘I’ and I certainly won’t give you ‘A.’ I’d rather have a real human mistake than a perfect artificial intelligence,” he continued. “That’s what you’re going to get from me till the day that I stop doing this.”

The rocker also outlined his production standards and concerns about the future of rock music.

“And I don’t know how to use that stuff. And I won’t work with any producers that use that. You’re just going to get some knucklehead musicians in the studio making music. And that’s what you’re going to get from me,” Bach stated. “When we lose a guy like Ozzy Osbourne and so many of our heroes are leaving us. I mean, I look around and there’s not many guys that do what I do. There’s not I mean, you could count them. There’s not many guys that are running out there with their microphone turned off.”

Bach’s stance against AI comes at a time when the music industry faces unprecedented technological challenges and changing consumption patterns.

Rewind STL reported that Bach has received offers to license his voice and name for AI use. He has declined these offers to preserve his artistry and human connection in music creation. This decision reflects his commitment to maintaining the authentic rock experience he promises his fans.

The veteran rocker is also navigating modern industry pressures beyond AI concerns. HiFi Way noted that Bach faces pressure from his record label due to low Spotify streaming numbers. This underscores the tension between traditional musicianship and evolving digital consumption trends.

Bach’s career spans decades in the heavy metal scene. He gained fame as the lead vocalist of Skid Row in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His current tour and recent statements demonstrate his continued dedication to live performance and authentic rock music delivery.

The musician’s comments reflect broader concerns within the rock community about maintaining authenticity in an increasingly digital music landscape. Veteran artists work to preserve the human element that has defined rock music for generations.
