The German rock band Scorpions has officially cancelled their upcoming India tour due to unforeseen medical circumstances affecting band members, as announced by promoter BookMyShow Live.

The cancellation affects multiple scheduled performances across India. The promoter released an official statement explaining the situation.

“We regret to inform you that the Scorpions ‘Coming Home’ India Tour scheduled in Shillong on April 21st, Delhi-NCR on April 24th, Bengaluru on April 26th and Mumbai on April 30th, stands cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members,” BookMyShow Live wrote in their announcement.

The promoter also addressed disappointed fans in their statement.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to fans,” they continued. “The band are very keen to perform in India when possible and within their schedule.”

This cancellation comes approximately a year after the band was forced to cancel several shows due to singer Klaus Meine’s diagnosis of bacterial bronchitis, which rendered him unable to perform.

The cancelled tour would have marked a significant milestone for both the band and their Indian fanbase. It represented their first return to the country in nearly two decades.

The Telegraph India reported that this would have been the band’s return to India after 18 years, since their last shows there in December 2007 in Shillong, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The “Coming Home” tour was set to include performances at major venues across four cities. Specific locations included JN Stadium in Shillong, HUDA Grounds in Delhi-NCR, NICE Grounds in Bengaluru, and Jio Gardens in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.

The tour cancellation has left thousands of fans disappointed. Organizers have moved quickly to address ticket refunds. Hindustan Times noted that tickets purchased via BookMyShow will be automatically refunded within 7-10 working days, providing some relief to fans who had already secured their spots for the highly anticipated concerts.

The exact nature of the medical circumstances remains undisclosed. Reports suggest the health issues may involve multiple band members. Musiculture indicated that reports suggest health concerns, particularly involving lead singer Klaus Meine, may have contributed to the sudden decision. Official confirmation of specific details has not been provided by the band or their management.

The cancellation represents a significant setback for the Indian rock music scene. The Scorpions’ return had been one of the most anticipated international concerts of the year. Times of India described it as a tough break for rock enthusiasts as the legendary Scorpions have pulled the plug on their ‘Coming Home’ India Tour due to sudden medical issues affecting band members. This highlights the disappointment felt across the country’s music community.
