Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar has shared an AI-generated video of himself and David Lee Roth enjoying ice cream together. The move was widely seen by fans as another peace offering toward Roth. It came just days after Hagar publicly invited him to join his Best of All Worlds Vegas residency, following the news of Roth canceling his solo tour dates due to low ticket sales.
Reacting to the AI-generated clip, Hagar was quick to clarify his stance while still finding humor in the moment.
“Hey now! To whoever created this (it looks like maybe Derrick Espino?), let’s not get carried away! ha ha ha ha ha!” Hagar said. “Just to be clear, I am not a fan of AI in general, but this was too funny. Someone sent it to me and I thought I have to share it.”
The video followed Hagar’s earlier heartfelt message directed at Roth, in which he expressed sympathy over the canceled tour and extended a warm invitation.
“Hey, Dave. Sammy here. I just got a call from Michael Anthony as I’m sitting down having my favorite cocktail. And I don’t have to tell you what that is, about your tour getting canceled. And I want to say from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry. I hope you’re well. I hope there’s not a physical problem. Honestly, Mike and I love the fact that you’ve been out there doing it, supporting the greatest band in the world that we were both part of. And yeah, I’m really sorry. That’s f*cked up,” Hagar said.
He then went on to encourage Roth and extend a direct invitation to his upcoming Vegas residency.
“Supporting what we did in this band to keep this music alive. You and I, Mikey, Al, Ed, cannot be replaced. So, when you’re ready to carry on, you go, brother. Mike and I support you,” Hagar continued. “Come to Vegas for the residency in September. Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, MC the damn show. Come out and just do what the fuck you do, which is pretty damn entertaining. Anyway, hope you’re well. I really do. God bless, brother.”
Roth canceled nearly all of his remaining 2026 solo tour dates, sending shockwaves through the rock community. No official reason was given for the cancellations. On July 23, Hagar posted an emotional video message expressing hope that there was no physical problem behind the decision.
Hagar’s Best of All Worlds Las Vegas Residency is set to take place at Park MGM. Shows are scheduled for September 18, 19, 23, 25, and 26, 2026. The residency brings together Hagar and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony in a celebration of the Van Halen catalog.
The invitation carries real weight given the complicated history between the two singers. Roth was the original frontman of Van Halen before departing in 1985. Hagar stepped in and fronted the band for over a decade. Despite years of public tension and occasional jabs between the two, Hagar’s recent messages have struck a notably warm and conciliatory tone.
