Sammy Hagar is throwing shade at Alex Van Halen.

It started when the Red Rocker shared a photo on Instagram of himself with Eddie Van Halen walking to the stage in the 90s. “walking to the stage in the good old days. I needed to see this photo today to close out this year. Thank you, KC for sending,” the singer wrote in the caption of his post.

The post soon sparked a conversation among his followers. One user commented, referring to Hagar and Eddie Van Halen, claimed there would never be a better duo than them. “GOATS. There will never be a better duo. Not Lennon/McCartney, not Mick/Keith. You guys will be my forever favorite. I’ll fight someone for that.”

Another user chimed in, bringing Alex Van Halen into the conversation, “No disrespect to Alex but it’s ok to like VH with Sammy even if he doesn’t anymore.”

In response, Hagar didn’t hold back. “It could have my friend but instead we went on to sell over 50 million records for number one album sold out every building and stadium in the world for a whole decade. That never happened again,” he wrote.

He went on to share his frustration with Alex Van Halen’s reluctance to acknowledge his contributions to the band’s legacy. “Alex is not doing his brother’s musical legacy justice by not acknowledging all the number one albums and some great music Eddie and I wrote together not Alex! but Eddie and I wrote together. to not acknowledge the 10 years of music is blasphemy to his brother’s musicianship and songwriting and legacy.”

The feud between Alex and Hagar has been going on for a long time, and they’ve recently taken shots at each other.

Alex said the band didn’t represent Van Halen well during Hagar’s ‘Best of All Worlds’ Tour. Fans didn’t respond well to Alex’s comments. Some said he should have been more involved if he had concerns, while others pointed out that Hagar did a lot for the band and was a talented performer.

Later, in an interview with The Guardian, Alex said Van Halen lost its spirit when David Lee Roth left, even though the band had success with Hagar as the new singer. He mentioned ending his new book, ‘Brothers,’ in 1985 because of that.

Hagar then posted a throwback video on social media to call out Alex. In the video, Alex talks about Hagar joining Van Halen and says he was able to complement Eddie Van Halen on both vocals and guitar, helping the band try new musical directions, including some keyboard work.

The singer later revealed that he tried to reach out to the drummer to join his band, but got rejected.
