Sammy Hagar has announced a new live album titled “Sammy Hagar & The Best of All Worlds Band – The Residency,” set for release on October 10, 2025, as shared on Instagram. However, Jason Bonham was seemingly left out of the album following his replacement with Kenny Aronoff.
The official announcement revealed details about the upcoming release and its featured musicians.
“New live album – ‘Sammy Hagar & The Best of All Worlds Band – The Residency’ is coming October 10, 2025, and the first track from the album, Summer Nights, is now streaming,” the announcement stated. “Featuring Sammy, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff, and Rai Thistlethwayte; recorded during the hit 2025 Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.”
Hagar also shared insights about the lead single from the album.
“‘Summer Nights’ was one of the first songs we wrote for the 5150 record, on our very first day in the studio,” Hagar said. “Eddie played me that guitar riff and I just started singing ‘summer nights and my radio,’ and the rest of the lyrics just came out like a river of consciousness. I don’t think there’s a better theme song for a beautiful summer night, so it had to be the first track this summer from the live album.”
The upcoming release represents a comprehensive collection of Hagar’s career highlights, spanning both his Van Halen era and solo work.
Jason Bonham is notably absent from the lineup. He had previously stepped away from Hagar’s band due to family health issues, with Kenny Aronoff taking his place. While fans had hoped for Bonham’s return, Hagar has chosen to continue with Aronoff. The new live album excludes performances from Bonham’s tenure with the group.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the album features a mix of Van Halen classics and Hagar solo favorites, including “Right Now,” “Poundcake,” “Best of Both Worlds,” and “I Can’t Drive 55.” The extensive 19-track collection provides fans with a deep dive into Hagar’s musical legacy. It showcases the collaborative efforts of his current lineup.
The album’s release strategy includes unique content for different formats. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that the track “Panama” will appear only on physical editions, while “When It’s Love” is exclusive to digital formats. This gives collectors and streaming fans different incentives to engage with the release.
Hagar’s continued success in the industry is underscored by his impressive accolades. Blabbermouth highlighted that Hagar boasts a Grammy Award from 1992, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2007, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame received in 2024. These achievements underscore his enduring influence on rock music.
The 2025 Las Vegas residency that provided the source material for this album has been met with strong fan and critical acclaim. The performances celebrate both Hagar’s tenure with Van Halen and his successful solo career. They feature collaborations with Joe Satriani on guitar, Michael Anthony on bass, and Kenny Aronoff on drums.
