Jay Jay French Hints At No New Twisted Sister Songs Anymore

Once a wild-haired icon of glam rock, Twisted Sister’s Jay Jay French is now a man more at home in the boardroom than on his creative musical side. In a recent interview with Ultimate Guitar, the former rock star revealed that he doesn’t feel the urge to write music anymore. It’s a surprising turn of events, but fans like to see if this issue is temporary or permanent.

Jay Jay French isn’t just a guitarist but also the manager of Twisted Sister. He’s been pulling double duty, managing the band from 1975 to 1979 and then again from 1988 until now. So, when French admits he’s not eager to write any new music, it’s quite a shocker for fans of the band.

In the interview, French candidly spoke about how he doesn’t get that creative itch anymore. Despite his wife and others encouraging him to pick up the guitar and write, he admits he doesn’t have the natural instinct to do so. However, he still makes an effort to play for an hour each day to keep his fingers nimble and avoid getting rusty.

He said:

“I don’t get the itch to create anymore. I still love it, but you’d have to really push me to do it. And lately, people have been pushing me more. So, I’ve been performing for guest appearances with various people because they pushed me, saying, ‘Come on, man, let’s do it.’ So, my wife says, ‘Go do it. Have fun out there.’ But I have a guitar in my office, and I try to pick it up and play for an hour each day just to keep my fingers nimble.”

Maybe it’s the businessman in him that’s overshadowing the guitar-wielding rocker. As Jay Jay French continues to manage Twisted Sister, it’s clear that his priorities have shifted. But who knows, maybe one day the rocker inside will be unleashed once again, or never again and he had found his call somewhere else rather than music.
