Rob Halford discussed Glenn Tipton’s condition in a recent interview with Radio Futuro.
“[Glenn Tipton] is a remarkable man,” Halford stated. “Parkinson’s is a cruel, cruel condition, particularly for musicians, particularly for guitar players who need to use their hands, because Parkinson’s takes away that skill.”
“Thank God his beautiful lead breaks and his guitarmanship will live forever with the work that he’s done for Judas Priest, from ‘Rocka Rolla’ all the way through to the work that he did on ‘Invincible Shield’,” he continued.
His statements dampened the hopes of fans who expected Glenn Tipton to recover from Parkinson’s disease and return to performing with the band.
The guitarist’s decade-long battle with Parkinson’s disease has significantly affected his band involvement.
Guitar World revealed that Tipton stopped regular touring in 2018. Guitarist Andy Sneap now handles his live duties on stage. Tipton maintains his connection to Judas Priest through musical contributions and occasional special appearances.
Official sources documented Tipton’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He shared this honor with former members K.K. Downing and Les Binks, marking a memorable milestone in the band’s history.
Tipton showcased his enduring spirit at Judas Priest’s Power Trip show in October 2023. He joined the band for their final three songs, demonstrating his determination to perform when his health allows.
The guitarist’s complex playing style and melodic, legato solos continue to inspire fans and fellow musicians as he faces his health challenges.
