Korn drummer Ray Luzier has stated that Korn is open to trying new things.

In a new interview with Modern Drummer, the drummer mentioned the different sounds of each of their albums and the band’s experimental approach. After discussing how he and his bandmates suggest different musical ideas to one another, he mentioned his favorite albums:

“That’s one thing I love about this band. We’re not afraid to experiment and try new things. But going from ‘The Paradigm Shift’ to ‘The Serenity Of Suffering’, [which] is one of my favorite records. ‘The Nothing’ is [also] one of my favorites. And the last one [‘Requiem’], we went kind of old school, partly analog, went back to just, like, ‘Let’s get in a room and jam,’ that kind of vibe.”

He went on to discuss his experience with the band:

“And that’s some of the best moments for me, is watching these roots grow into the song. It becomes something that appeals to the crowds. They’re singing the words back. There’s no better feeling, rockin’ out on stage, whether it’s 500 or 50,000 people, feeling that energy. You can never, ever replace a live experience.”

New Korn Music Is Coming

Korn is currently in the process of creating a successor to their 2022 album, Requiem. In an interview with The Joe Kingdom Perspective, guitarist Brian Welch revealed that although there is new music coming out this year, the band is currently ‘in hiding,’ and doing their own thing.

If the album drops this year, it would be arriving 30 years since the band’s self-titled 1994 debut.
