American rapper and actor T.I. recently shared details about an incident where he helped Creed singer Scott Stapp. He addressed what really happened during the encounter on Still 400 — The Mannie & Juvie Show.

T.I. explained the circumstances of finding Stapp on a hotel balcony and how the situation unfolded that night.

“So this particular balcony, half of it was covered. And then the other half, you could walk to the rail and look over. So I walk out to the rail and look up. And it’s a man, a white man. And he’s like mumbling, talking to himself, groaning. And he couldn’t move. He was trying to move, but couldn’t move,” T.I. said.

The rapper described his initial interaction with Stapp and what led to the dangerous situation.

“And I’m like, ‘Man, what’s up? You alright?’ I don’t know why I asked him that. I’m like, ‘Man, you alright?’ He was trying to get from one room to another room because he said his girl was in there cheating on him with his buddy. So I guess he had fell, and now he wanted to go on and keep jumping. And I was like, ‘Nah, man, nah, man, let’s get you some help,'” he continued.

T.I. also addressed how the incident has been portrayed in media interviews since then.

“He was a dude from Creed, the rock band. He [Scott Stapp] always goes on interviews telling people that I saved him. I didn’t save him. He made the decision to save his own. Glory goes to God. I didn’t do anything,” T.I. explained.

The 2006 incident at the Delano Hotel on Miami Beach has become a well-documented story of intervention and survival. Additional details have emerged over the years about the severity of the situation.

Miami New Times reported that Stapp had already jumped from a higher floor and was hanging six feet from the edge with broken legs when T.I. discovered him. The Creed frontman was in a severely compromised physical state. He was unable to move properly due to his injuries from the initial fall.

The circumstances leading to the encounter were more complex than initially apparent. TheAlterBridgeNation.com documented that despite his broken legs from the first jump, Stapp was attempting to jump again when T.I. intervened. The singer’s emotional state was driven by his belief that his girlfriend was cheating on him with his best friend in a nearby room.

The relationship between the two musicians predated this dramatic encounter. Loudwire noted that T.I. and Stapp had met once before in 2004. They bonded over their shared support for Alabama Crimson Tide football. This prior connection may have helped T.I. recognize Stapp during the crisis situation.

The incident has been referenced multiple times in interviews over the years. Both artists have acknowledged the gravity of what occurred that night. T.I.’s recent comments on the podcast provide the most detailed account yet of how he discovered Stapp and the immediate steps he took to prevent further harm. He emphasized his belief that Stapp ultimately chose to accept help rather than being “saved” by outside intervention.
