Randy Rhoads’ sister, Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio, recently took to her Instagram and shared some old pictures of her brother, giving an exclusive insight into Randy’s life and recalling the late guitarist’s routine to relax after coming home from touring with Ozzy Osbourne.
Touring mattered a lot to Randy Rhoads as he would take on months-long journeys across numerous countries with Ozzy. This meant he would be away from home and his family for the most part. So, when he returned home, the late guitar hero would have a few things in mind to relax and enjoy some time with family and friends.
Kathy recalled how one of the first things his brother would do was get into his favorite rob, enjoy some hot tea in his favorite mug and listen to some classical music after all the hard rock he’d been playing on the road. The guitarist also had a miniature train collection which he loved to build and add new pieces every so often.

“Simple things trigger unforgettable memories. This is something you would not even think would be worthy of mentioning. These are the memories of my brother when he would come home from the road from touring with Ozzy.
Looking at Randy’s favorite robe is just a glimmer into his personal life. Shown here is what would truly happen when he came home from the Road with Ozzy. And that is… Unwinding with his favorite robe, and included would be a cup of hot tea in this ‘his very favorite mug.’ He would listen to classical music. Not hard rock.”
She continued:
“And [he] would be building and constructing his miniature small train ‘Villages’ to unwind from the road, adding to his miniature train collection. [They are] such impactful, but simple memories mean the absolute most!
This is how I remember him in later years. It’s the simple human side of my brother. Reflecting on heartfelt days gone by. History preserved… Randy’s history [is] preserved. And still lovingly protected! Please appreciate the family share and acknowledgment.”
The late musician seemed to prefer to relax by getting into his favorite robe, listening and enjoying some classical pieces, and drinking a cup of hot tea from his favorite mug after touring with Osbourne. These personal insights Kathy Rhoads shared showed how Randy’s memory is well-protected by his family and how his legacy continues to live on even with recalling his simple routines.
