AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd made his long-awaited return to the live stage, but not with AC/DC.

On November 2, the drummer performed the AC/DC hit ‘T.N.T.’ with a local party band in New Zealand.

Fans shared their desire to see him live with AC/DC once again. “Please come back to AC/DC Phil. WE MISS YOU,” a user commented under the video. Another user added: “HELL YEAH!!! His butt needs to be on stage with AC/DC, NOW!!!”

In a November 2023 interview with Stuff, Phil Rudd shared that he couldn’t join AC/DC at the Power Trip festival in California last year but said he was “looking forward to playing with them again in the future.”

When AC/DC announced in September 2023 that drummer Matt Laug would be playing at Power Trip, there was no explanation for Rudd’s absence. Rudd had rejoined AC/DC for their 2020 album, ‘Power Up.’

Rudd’s break from AC/DC began in 2015 after he was sentenced to eight months of home detention in New Zealand due to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession. During his absence, Chris Slade filled in as the band’s drummer on the Rock or Bust tour.

Slade had previously played with AC/DC from 1989 to 1994, including on the ‘The Razor’s Edge’ album.
