The Reason Eric Clapton Is Disliked By Other Guitar Players

There are several reasons why Eric Clapton is regarded as one of the greatest guitar players of all time. The English musician is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, once as a solo artist and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream.

Clapton has influenced many musicians with his unique recording techniques and guitar-playing throughout his career, which spans over nearly sixty years. The musician is involved in every aspect of his music’s recording sessions and technique to create the perfect sound, for instance, by adjusting the distance between the microphone and amplifiers.

The legendary guitarist’s private life draws attention much like his music career. Since he’s one of the most famous rockers in the world, every statement he makes during interviews or shows creates controversy, which ultimately causes other musicians to stay away from him.

Eric Clapton Has Many Scandalous Moments

While there are many moments where Eric Clapton degraded himself with his offensive statements, one of the worst ones has to be the time when he said, ‘Keep Britain White.’ During a concert in Birmingham, Clapton spoke out against the increasing immigration while he was under the influence and was labeled as racist.

Aside from using the slogan of the far-right National Front during his speech, Eric also stated that all immigrants should be sent back so that Britain doesn’t become a ‘black colony.’ While the musician expressed his regret over his racist comments following the incident, the damage was done.

The guitarist recently proved that he hasn’t changed much over the years, especially when it comes to creating a national crisis over his opinions. While many people have been arguing over the COVID-19 vaccine, Clapton seems to have his mind set. After it was announced that all citizens have to carry proof of vaccination to enter nightclubs and venues, Eric Clapton exclaimed that he refuses to perform on any stage where the audience is discriminated against.

The announcement went hand in hand with Clapton’s anti-lockdown song with Van Morrison, ‘Stand and Deliver.’ Since the entire world has been dealing with clashing opinions regarding the coronavirus pandemic, the musician’s controversial attitude made things much worse for him, and he received tremendous backlash.

When his reputation as one of the most influential and talented guitar players was combined with these controversial moments, many musicians considered him an unpleasant and cocky person. If you ask fans, he has also distanced himself from the brilliant musician he once was, which changed the notion surrounding his artistry.

It should be mentioned that many guitar players praise Eric Clapton as a musician since his career is undeniably successful. However, according to many, he’s not the favorite musician to be around and interact with personally, which is why there aren’t many guitarists praising his personality.
