Peter Frampton made a guest appearance in a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ in Dolly Parton’s new album, ‘Rockstar.’ Instead of copying George Harrison’s style while playing the guitar solo on the track, he chose to do it his way.
Talking about his part in the song with Classic Rock, the guitarist explained:
“With Paul [McCartney], Ringo [Starr], and Mick Fleetwood playing with me, no less! I told Kent I’m not going to do the George solo because I’ve got to be me; if I had been in the room with The Beatles in 1969, this is what I would have played. I just closed my eyes, and off I went. It’s very in the moment. I got a big thumbs-up from Dolly.”
The Guitarist’s Vocal Contributions To The Album

Frampton also teamed up with Parton for a cover of his own 1975 song ‘Baby, I Love Your Way.’ This duet came about after he reached out to producer Kent Wells for a guitar solo on the record.
To let Parton sing whatever part she wanted in ‘Baby, I Love Your Way,’ the guitarist sang the song from beginning to end. About the vocals from the country singer, he shared:
“There was this extra Dolly energy on there – very emotional – and she’s doing these wonderful ad-libs, singing around me. I thought: ‘Holy shit, I better up my ante here!’ So, I went back in at the end and ad-libbed with her. But the energy that she brought to the track, you can’t help but get chills and smile when you hear it.”
