Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher has shut down a fan’s plea for a new Oasis album with a characteristically blunt and humorous response.
The exchange began when a fan passionately appealed to Gallagher, insisting that a new album could be life-changing. Gallagher fired back with a tongue-in-cheek explanation for why the band has no plans to release new material.
“NO, I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation,” Gallagher said. “If it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit let’s just to some gigs and be happy thank you.”
The response highlights the immense pressure Gallagher feels surrounding any potential new Oasis release. He framed impossibly high expectations as his reason for steering clear of the studio, indicating that live performances remain the band’s focus for now.
Gallagher’s comments come amid growing speculation about the band’s next moves following their landmark reunion. Oasis officially announced their return in August 2024 after nearly 15 years apart. The band went on to complete 41 shows across the UK, Europe, North America, and South America as part of the Oasis Live ’25 Tour — their first live performances together since their acrimonious split.
With the reunion tour now behind them, attention has turned to what comes next. Gallagher has confirmed that Oasis will tour again in 2027. He has been equally clear, however, that fans should not hold their breath for a new studio album.
Gallagher also pushed back against suggestions that the 2027 run would serve as a farewell. He described the upcoming shows as the “opposite of a farewell tour,” signalling that the band’s renewed chapter is far from over. The band’s management had previously stated that the reunion would be the “last time around” with no plans for new music. Gallagher publicly disputed that claim, making clear that he and his brother Noel Gallagher — not management — hold the final say over the band’s future.
In the meantime, Noel Gallagher has been working on a live album and a documentary titled Live ’25. Both are expected for release on September 11. While the prospect of entirely new Oasis music remains uncertain, the documentary is set to offer fans a definitive look back at the historic reunion tour.
