Kerry King On His Comeback After Slayer’s Ending: ‘I’m Obviously Not Done’

In a recent chat with France’s Loud TV, Kerry King opened up about coming back after Slayer ended.

The guitarist referred to his solo career and said:

“I’m obviously not done. I’ve got lots more music and lots more things to say, a lot more people to piss off and argue about. So, let’s start this new endeavor now. Move on.”

King’s debut solo album, ‘From Hell I Rise’ will come out on May 17. The musician wrote all the songs for the record. PDaul Bostaph, bassist Kyle Sanders, guitarist Phil Demmel, Mark Osegueda on vocals, and producer Josh Wilbur joined him on the recording sessions.

What The Album Will Be Like?

In an interview with The Dark Melody last month, Osegueda talked about the album:

“Yeah, I’m thrilled about it. That’s how I feel about it. I’m excited as hell. I worked hard to get that gig — very hard to get that gig — and since I did, I worked very hard in the studio. And then the recording experience of the record was incredible. We went to the studio with Josh Wilbur and the recording went great. It went great. And I think Kerry assembled a band of people he knew could pull off the vision and what he heard in his head. And one song has already been released, ‘Idle Hands,’ from the record. The record is called ‘From Hell I Rise.’ It comes out May 17th on Reigning Phoenix Music.”

Osegueda Thinks The Record Is Beyond Expectations

Mark further shared his feelings about the upcoming record:

“And the album, it’s a beast. It’s a savage. It is. And people are gonna be wholeheartedly — I can’t say ‘surprised,’ as they’ll be gratified. It’s gonna surpass their expectations. And I’m very excited about it and every bit of news that comes out. I have a lot of touring ahead of me with that as well. We’re gonna start touring for that in May, and that’s gonna pretty much go all the way through August for now. And, yeah, we’re all very excited about it. It’s something we’re very much looking forward to and something I’m thrilled to be a part of. I really am.”

The first single of the album, ‘Idle Hands,’ arrived on February 5, while the second one, ‘Residue,’ dropped this month on April 12. Kirk Hammett previously called King’s guitar solo in ‘Idle Hands’ best solo of the year. King’s next show with his band is on May 7 in Chicago. He will perform at different festivals in the rest of May and June.
