The Hives singer Pelle Almqvist named their worst record made so far. During his appearance on Louder Sound, the singer picked his favorite singers, albums, worst records, guilty pleasures, and more. Under ‘The Worst Record I’ve Made,’ the rocker revealed the band’s worst record to be their third studio album, ‘Tyrannosaurus Hives.’
Almqvist not only put the album under the worst album title but also shared his wish for the album to sound like another of their record. He revealed:
“We did our best to pour everything we had into every album, so I’ve got no real regrets. Looking back, I kind of wish that ‘Tyrannosaurus Hives’ sounded a bit more like ‘Veni Vidi Vicious,’ but we were so interested in making it sound as different as we could.”
Though he dislikes the album, he acknowledged the fact that it is actually many of his fans’ favorite album:
“I sometimes would’ve wanted to hear that record sound looser, but it’s a lot of people’s favourite Hives record, so I don’t want to f*ck with their feelings about that.”
The rocker also shared ‘Veni Vidi Vicious’ as his favorite Hives record, saying he has a soft spot for it.
The band has been on a record hiatus for over a decade, which was recently broken with their latest release, ‘The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons.’ The newest record marks the first release since the band’s 2012 album, ‘Lex Hives.’
A few months before the album was released, the frontman revealed that the band wanted the new songs to sound and feel like new songs rather than the old Hives songs.
