Paul Stanley’s son Evan sat down with Artists on Record for a new interview and chatted about different rockers. During the chat, Evan mentioned Green Day and the band’s songwriting process.

“I think it’s also like whether it’s Billie Joe [Armstrong] or Post Malone, the best dudes are bringing other genres to what they do,” he explained. “He’s playing punk but he grew up listening to Everly Brothers and Def Leppard and KISS. So okay, it’s going to sound a little different and Post was doing the more kind of hip-pop thing until now. But he grew up listening to grunge and country and rock and everything in between. So you bring something new to what you’re doing.”

“I think that’s kind of what makes the lights go on and people kind of turn their head and go, ‘Oh wait hold up now, that’s something I got to see,’ and that’s you know that’s what I love about Green Day it’s all that attitude and energy from great punk stuff but they have great songs too great melody,” Evan added.
