SeeYouSpaceCowboy is receiving backlash for being a support act for Dance Gavin Dance on their ‘Return of the Robot’ tour, starting in May. Fans pointed out the hypocrisy, as SeeYouSpaceCowboy had previously removed Roman Candle from a tour over domestic abuse allegations.

Vocalist Connie Sgarbossa responded to the backlash on social media. “Believe me, there is no part of me as an individual that backs this either.” She later hinted at leaving the band and mentioned unresolved issues. “Probably gonna be leaving SYSC due to a lack of urgency on issues I have been bringing up for a while now. It was fun while it lasted.”

Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke responded to the criticism by saying that she wouldn’t be leaving because she ‘needs the money,’ and also addressed her message about potentially leaving the band. “No you do back it I saw the screenshots of your text to the band. Also, you are making 100k on the [Dance Gavin Dance] tour you f*cking punk ass bitch. You f*cking poser. Drop off the tour if you don’t back it then, oh wait, you need that 100k.”

The criticism is tied to Dance Gavin Dance’s lead singer Tillian Pearson. The singer faced sexual abuse allegations in 2022. Though Pearson temporarily stepped away from the band, Dance Gavin Dance continued without him and later brought him back before parting ways with him in 2023.

The SYSC singer shared the breakup tweet after fans criticized her for dropping Roman Candle from their tour but not Dance Gavin Dance. Fans shared their frustration online. One fan commented, “The double whammy of SeeYouSpaceCowboy and The Home Team letting me down, you’re kidding me. Like come on SYSC was smart enough to drop Roman Candle from tour but then do this??”

Another added, “Its really shitty to put up a front that your music and shows are safe for marginalized people or whatever other facade you choose and then keep booking tours with abusers and abuse enablers including one of the bands most notorious for that.”

There is currently no official announcement about Sgarbossa’s exit. Only time will tell whether or not she really leaves the band.
