Paul Stanley has faced criticism from KISS fans over his remarks to Peter Criss on the drummer’s birthday.
The singer shared a photo of Peter and wrote the following for his former bandmate:
“Happy Birthday Peter! Wishing you the best on your day! You are an irreplaceable part of the foundation of these past incredible 50 years of KISS.”
Fan Reactions To Stanley’s Words

However, the singer’s message has received backlash from the band’s fans, especially his ‘irreplaceable’ comment. One of them wrote:
“Yet you didn’t acknowledge him Ace [Frehley], Eric [Carr], Vinnie [Vincent], Mark [St. John] or Bruce [Kulick] during the last show. So what [Tommy] Thayer and [Eric] Singer have steered the ship for the past 25 years, without the solid foundation that was created by Peter, Ace, Eric, Vinnie, Mark, and Bruce, face it, there would be no KISS, Paul.”
Another comment again referred to Criss’ absence in the final show, expressing:
“Irreplaceable part of KISS that wasn’t invited to play with them on the last NYC tour date.”
The following remark mentioned Stanley’s ‘irreplaceable’ comment and said:
“So irreplaceable he was replaced twice….”
One other user again criticized the band’s attitude towards the drummer during the final show, writing:
“Typing that up was as easy as it would have been to say ‘thank you’ to Peter during the last show.”
Peter Criss Reflects On His Journey With KISS

In a new exclusive interview with 94.7 WCSX, Criss refuted Gene Simmons’ claims about KISS’s final concerts. The musician fondly remembered the wonderful years, the music they made together, and their incredible fans. He feels grateful for the support over the years. Peter then shared his sadness that he wasn’t asked to play a few songs in New York to thank their fans for their long-time support. He continued:
“[I’m] in a good place in my life and very happy and very proud of what the four founding fathers of KISS created. It’s truly a blessing. There’s not much more a musician or artist could ask for than what God has blessed us with. And now the end is here. To quote our dear late manager Bill Aucoin, ‘onward and upward.'”
Kiss held their last concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 2, 2023. After the show, they revealed that the band would continue through digital avatars in completely virtual performances.
