Paul Stanley Shares Why KISS Didn’t Keep Their Farewell Promise

Kiss’ Paul Stanley recently revealed why the band didn’t keep their promise of the farewell show. During an interview with The Project, Stanley and Gene Simmons discussed the band’s future and their current ‘End Of The Road’ farewell tour.

The tour was announced to first start in January 2019, but was later postponed due to Covid. It was initially scheduled to wrap up on July 17, 2021 in New York City but has since been extended to December 2023.

The rocker started by discussing his career with the band:

“It’s been 50 years now. I mean, it’s amazing to think that first time we came here was 1980 and we experienced ‘Kissteria.’ To have something that’s been that timely kind of eclipses us as mere mortals.”

While discussing the importance of their renowned makeup, a picture of Taylor Swift appeared on the screen with Kiss makeup photoshopped onto the star’s face. Stanley said of Swift:

“That’s actually not that far from reality. Taylor and the whole band came up in Kiss makeup and you can go on YouTube and see it.”

The interviewer shared his confusion as to why the band still continues to tour though their last show was intended to be in Sydney. The rocker explained why the band didn’t keep their promise:

“It’s actually true, when we were here last, we really felt that that was it and it was teary eyed and we said goodbye. But we were asked to come back and we’re not kicking open the door. People asked us to come and we had such an amazing relationship with everybody here.”

He continued by expressing his gratitude to their fans in Australia:

“This country, God bless you, you don’t even know how wonderful you have in here. This is an incredible country and in any chance we could get to come here, we would take. So we said, ‘Gladly, we’ll do one more time.’ So we’re here but this is it, of course.”

The rocker clarified that their last shows will be worth to watch with the following words:

“For us, it’s just reached a point where we realize we can’t do this indefinitely. We’re really at the top of our game still. And now’s the time to do a victory lap and go out there with our heads held high and say thank you to everybody and do a show that really encapsulates and really pays tribute not only to us but to the fans.”

Elsewhere, Stanley shared that the final show they will be playing will be emotinal and there will be ‘some tears shed for sure.’

The ‘End Of The Road Tour’ included 250 shows within 5 years and the band will conclude its career with their latest shows being in New York, where it all started.
