Ozzy Osbourne ‘Painfully’ Cancels Gig Fearing He’ll Disappoint Fans

Ozzy Osbourne announced that he ‘painfully’ had to cancel his live comeback at the Power Trip festival in California this fall. The Prince of Darkness wrote a statement on Instagram to share why he had to step back from his headlining performance. He explained:

“As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.”

Ozzy has had to cancel the ‘No More Tours 2 Tour’ and postpone his UK and Ireland dates with Judas Priest several times before canceling those as well due to health struggles and the pandemic. Ozzy added in his statement that he needs time to get back on stage; he wrote:

“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet, and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”

Osbourne mentioned who he will leave his spot to on Power Trip and also thanked everyone for their continuous support by saying:

“The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine, and I can promise that you will not be disappointed. Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support. I love you all, and I will see you soon.”

The Power Trip was going to be Ozzy’s comeback after his recent statements about retiring from touring. The rocker shared with Metal Hammer that his struggles with Parkinson’s disease, neck surgery and mobility problems forced him to quit touring, not retire from being a musician. He said:

“Doing a live show is what I live for. I’ve had to cancel my European tour, but I’m determined. I’ve got to do more gigs if I have to get someone to wheel me out there. I mean, you can’t retire from this game. It’s not a job; it’s a f*cking passion. I don’t know how to do anything else.”
