A few weeks ago Orianthi had to leave Alice Cooper’s tour because of a torn hamstring and hip injury. This made it hard for her to perform, so Gilby Clarke, a former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, replaced her.

In a recent update on the Guitar Hang podcast, Orianthi broke her silence and talked about how hard it was to cancel her shows. “I’m recovering from a slightly torn hamstring and hip. And I had to cancel some Alice Cooper dates, which I felt terrible – really terrible about. But I felt this terrible pain and I was, like, ‘I don’t know, holding the guitar for two hours a night and not being able to move around.’ And I called Alice, actually, when I was in Saudi Arabia, and I said, ‘I’m in a lot of pain. I’m not too sure what’s going on.'”

She continued: “So I gave him a heads up, and I said, ‘I don’t know. I don’t know what’s happening.’ Obviously I couldn’t go see a doctor there. So when I got back, yeah, they were, like, ‘Oh, you can’t really do this.’ So I was, like, ‘Man.’ I’d never canceled anything before. So it weighed heavy on me. But now I’m feeling better and all of that.”

Orianthi made the announcement two weeks ago. She shared her health situation on X, saying she had a torn hamstring, hip, and lower back issues. “I have a torn hamstring, hip, and lower back issue which is very uncomfortable and unfortunate,” Orianthi said on X. “Getting the help I need here with the best doctors. I have been advised to not tour / travel. I love Alice and the band very much, but won’t be able to do this short run with them this time. I’m mending up. Love you all,” the guitarist wrote.

The tour started on January 31 and ends on the Rock Legends Cruise tonight. Clarke has played with bands like Heart and formed Rock Star Supernova in 2006.
