Noel Gallagher has opened up about the physical challenges he faced during Oasis reunion performances. He shared candid details about his experience in an interview with talkSPORT.

The guitarist revealed he underestimated the demands of returning to stadium performances. He described feeling overwhelmed during the shows.

“I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into,” Gallagher said. “It was kind of… after about five minutes, I was like, Alright, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?”

Gallagher admitted the reunion shows presented unexpected challenges despite his previous experience with large venues.

“I’ve done stadiums before and all that, but I don’t mind telling you man, my legs had turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song,” he continued. “I could have done with going back and taking a minute. It’s been an amazing thing, it really is an amazing thing.”

The musician also praised his bandmates and reflected on the positive aspects of reuniting with the group.

“It’s great just to be back with Bonehead [guitarist Paul Arthurs] and Liam, and just be doing it again,” Gallagher said. “I guess when it’s all said and done we will sit and reflect on it, but it’s great being back in the band with Liam: I forgot how funny he was.”

He particularly commended his brother Liam’s performance as frontman.

“Liam is smashing it. I’m proud of him,” he said. “Having been fronting a band for 16 years [his High Flying Birds] I know how difficult it is. I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it. I look around and think, Good for you mate. He’s been amazing.”

Gallagher’s physical struggles become more understandable when considering the scale and intensity of the reunion tour. The tour brought the legendary Manchester band back together after years apart.

The reunion tour featured an extensive setlist that would challenge even seasoned performers. WRIF reported that the band performed 23 songs including classics like “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” and “Champagne Supernova.” They delivered a nearly two-and-a-half-hour show on opening night. This comprehensive mix showcased the band’s enduring appeal while highlighting the physical stamina required to perform such a lengthy set.

The ambitious scope of the reunion extends far beyond individual performances. Spotify noted that the reunion tour marks one of the biggest runs of live shows for Oasis. Notable performances are scheduled across the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. This extensive touring schedule adds significant context to the physical demands Noel described. It demonstrates just how ambitious and far-reaching the reunion really is.

The tour’s setlist strategy reflects careful curation designed to satisfy longtime fans while showcasing the band’s musical evolution. Apple Music revealed that the performances blend classic Oasis hits with fan favorites. This creates a comprehensive musical journey that spans the band’s career. This approach requires the musicians to maintain energy and precision across a diverse range of songs. Each song carries its own emotional weight and technical demands.

The physical and emotional intensity of these performances represents a significant undertaking for musicians who have spent years pursuing separate projects. The combination of lengthy setlists, massive venues, and the emotional weight of reunion creates a perfect storm of challenges. Even experienced performers like Noel Gallagher found this more demanding than anticipated.
