Nita Strauss Says She Had A ‘Hiatus Dinner’ With Alice Cooper
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, ex-Alice Cooper band guitarist Nita Strauss shared her thoughts about her decision to take a break from the band and try something new. She added that they had a dinner where Alice Cooper said she was welcome to return to the band.
Nita Strauss is one of the most influential and well-known guitarists of the 21st century. In 2011, the guitarist had ranked number 1 on Guitar World’s list of ’10 Female Guitar Players You Should Know,’ and her fame increased even more when she started touring with Alice Cooper in 2014. In addition, Nita Strauss is also the first female signature artist of Ibanez Guitar, and her dream guitar is now sold in three different versions.
The guitarist’s career with the Godfather of Shock Rock started when she replaced Orianthi in 2014. Her performances with the band received positive reviews from fans, critics, and the singer himself. Alongside her tenure with the band, Strauss has also worked on her solo career, producing chart-worthy albums that reached fans worldwide.
After a commendable run with Alice Cooper, the guitarist has recently decided to leave the band and join Demi Lovato on her upcoming tour. Although the world had assumed her decision was definite, the guitarist recently opened up during an interview about how she just wanted to take a step back from the band.
The former Alice Cooper guitarist stated that she doesn’t feel like her decision was a departure from the band but more of a break. She explained that they even had a ‘hiatus dinner’ in which Alice Cooper stated they would be open to her returning to perform with them again. She finally added that the world had assumed her decision was final but depending on her schedule, she might get a chance to play with them again.
Strauss’ thoughts about her decision to leave the Alice Cooper band:
“It’s interesting that everyone’s picked up saying it’s a ‘departure,’ but I don’t feel, necessarily, that I left. I took a step back, and I’m stepping back from this upcoming tour, but I don’t think anyone has ever used the word quitting or leaving outside other people. When I had my last few shows with Alice, we had what Alice called a ‘Hiatus Dinner’ where he said, ‘We wish you the best, we love you, you’re welcome back.’
There’s no shutting a door and changing the guard; I’m just taking a step back a little bit. Depending on what the schedule looks like next year, I may have the chance to come back; I may not. But it doesn’t feel as final to the people in Alice’s band and me and the inner circle as it has been portrayed in the world.”
Nita Strauss is currently on Demi Lovato’s ongoing seventh concert tour to support her eighth studio album ‘Holy Fvck.’ The ‘Holy Fvck Tour’ began on August 13, 2022, and the tour’s first leg will end on November 6, 2022. Besides the tour, her solo track ‘Summer Storm’ will drop on August 30, 2022.
