Nikki Sixx took to X to speak out about Mötley Crüe’s Rock Hall snub.

The bassist reshared a post, saying, “Mötley Crüe. 100 MILLION records sold WORLDWIDE. 22 TOP 40 Mainstream Rock Hits. 6 Top Pop Singles. 9 Top 10 Albums on Billboard 200 Chart. 8.2 MILLION monthly Listeners on Spotify. Established in 1981 and STILL PLAYING. THEY ARE STILL NOT CONSIDERED FOR THE ROCK AND HALL. MÖTLEY CRÜE IS ROCK AND ROLL.”

Sixx put a laughing emoji and wrote, “We are building our own hall of fame for us artists who misbehaved.”

Mötley Crüe has been eligible for the Hall since 2006 but hasn’t been nominated yet. This isn’t the first time Sixx has shared his negative opinion about the institution.

“I think people get too worked up about the RRHF. If you get in that’s cool and if not, it’s not a big deal,” the musician shared on his social media in 2023. “It’s not some elite club that defines you. It’s an award. None of us hopefully make music just for awards. I do like the idea of jamming with other musicians at the ceremony.”

“It’s a fixed old-boy network that has lost touch with art, songwriting craft, lyrics and influential music and usually has other agendas at hand,” Sixx also said in 2015. “Young bands tell me it’s a joke and these bands are the future.”

His bandmate Tommy Lee also agreed with the bassist in an interview with Bill Maher. The drummer explained, “We’re like, uh, maybe this isn’t the cool club. And now it’s like, if they asked us, we’d probably say, ‘Yeah, thanks, not really interested.'”

Another Mötley Crüe member Vince Neil doesn’t think Mötley Crüe will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame soon. “I think it’d be pretty cool to be inducted,” the singer stated during an interview with WMMR Philadelphia. “But we’ll probably be dead when they induct us.”

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees were announced on February 12. Another band that was left out again was Iron Maiden. This year’s nominees are Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Mana, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
