Nikki Sixx On Receiving Def Leppard’s Support For Mick Mars Case

Nikki Sixx appeared in a new interview with 95.5 KLOS, and while chatting about touring with Def Leppard, he explained how the band supported them while they were trying to overcome Mick Mars’ departure from the band. The rocker shared his experience of touring with Def Leppard to start with, and touched on how supportive the band was with the following words:

“It was so great. […] It was not of this competition we were literally putting on, and we went through stuff with obviously a band member leaving the band in the middle of the tour, and they were supportive of that. They know what it’s like to go through that hardship within a band. It was amazing, I can’t say enough great stuff about Mötley Crüe and Deff Leppard touring together.”

Mars’ Departure From Mötley Crüe

The World Tour, co-headlining both Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe, started in February 2023 and ended in November 2023. The tour was the first without the original guitarist Mars, who was replaced by John 5. Mars announced his retirement in October 2022, leaving right in the middle of two co-headlining tours: The Stadium Tour and The World Tour.

After his retirement, the rocker decided to sue the band, alleging that the band was trying to ‘unilaterally’ get Mars removed from the line-up of the band. The band later made an explanation that he was not fired but was retired.

Def Leppard’s New Tour

Def Leppard is now going on a 2024 tour, but this time without Mötley Crüe. Named ‘Summer Stadium Tour,’ the rockers will be co-headlining with Journey, along with Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame bands had previously embarked on a tour together in 2018 and are set to perform at stadiums worldwide. You can see the dates here.
