Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx is sure that John 5 is a reliable guitar player.
Sixx took to X to share his thoughts about the guitarist who took the place of Mick Mars after his retirement. When the radio personality Mitch Lafon asked Sixx what John 5 brought to the band so far, Sixx replied with the following:
“Being able to depend on a musician is key in a band. He’s a great player and consistent… We’re all operating on a higher frequency. I’ve known and worked with J5 for over 15 years.”
John 5 Thinks Mars Would Want Him To Take His Place

In 2022, John 5 officially joined Mötley Crüe during their Stadium Tour with Def Leppard. Upon his introduction as the new guitarist, the band shared that Mick Mars would no longer be part of the remaining tour dates and future live shows due to health concerns. Upon stepping into his role, John 5 took measures to ensure there were no bad feelings between them. In fact, he expressed his thoughts on how Mars’ would approve and accept him taking over his position in the band:
“I think what’s important is that I have such a respect and fondness for Mick. And I think that if anybody was gonna do it, I think Mick would want me to do it because I love the music and I love Mick so much and I love his solos, just like the world does. And I think that’s important. I think that’s really, really important ’cause I hold him on such a pedestal.”
