Dee Snider recently revealed that he wanted his son Jesse Blaze Snider to stand in for him in Twisted Sister. However, the band rejected the idea, as stated in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The revelation came after Jesse Blaze Snider posted about being “SMF #3” and hinted at potentially filling in for his father in upcoming Twisted Sister reunion shows.

“It’s official! I’m SMF #3! And 1 & 2 are both older than me, stay healthy eventually I’ll inherit the #1 spot!” Jesse said. “Sebastian Bach, long referred to as ‘SMF #2’ & I respect his authority, but Dee Snider says I’m next in line! Who knows if they’ll ever be a #4?”

SMF is a track from Twisted Sister’s 1984 breakthrough album Stay Hungry. It stands for Sick Mother F***er, which is also the band’s designation for its fans.

Dee Snider responded to his son’s post with support. He also revealed the band’s stance on the matter.

“Fact! My son is more than qualified to stand in for me,” Snider said. “Apparently my band said, ‘We’ve already had one Snider. We don’t want another.’ Lol!! Their loss!”

This family drama comes at a particularly significant time for Twisted Sister. The band has been navigating major changes regarding their 2026 reunion shows.

Loudwire reported that Dee Snider stepped away from Twisted Sister’s 2026 reunion shows due to physical ailments. In early February 2026, the band canceled all scheduled performances from April 25 through the summer. Snider revealed he’s been suffering from various physical ailments that could affect his ability to perform.

The band didn’t leave fans hanging, however. Loudwire noted that Sebastian Bach, the former Skid Row vocalist, was announced on March 3, 2026, as Snider’s replacement for the reunion shows. The band’s announcement stated that “Twisted Sister members Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda are thrilled to announce that iconic vocalist and frontman Sebastian Bach will be fronting the band for a handful of select dates this fall.”

Interestingly, this replacement scenario wasn’t entirely unexpected. Metal Injection revealed that Snider recalled that around the time of Twisted Sister’s 2014 reunion, every band member had hand-selected fill-ins for themselves if the situation arose. This suggests this was a planned contingency rather than an ad-hoc decision.

The irony of the situation is clear. While Snider’s son Jesse expressed interest in stepping into his father’s role and Dee himself endorsed the idea, the band ultimately went with their pre-selected choice of Sebastian Bach instead. This decision appears to align with the band members’ apparent reluctance to have another Snider in the lineup, as Dee humorously revealed in his social media response.
