Sargent replaces Erik Grönwall, who left the band two years ago. The new singer has been singing Skid Row songs for years before becoming an official member.

“I’ve been singing Skid Row songs for years, but never imagined I’d actually be joining the band!” Sargent said. “It’s an incredible honor to be part of something with such a legendary history.”

“The chemistry and energy we’ve found together over the past several months has been amazing,” he continued. “I have tremendous respect for the band’s legacy, but I’m even more excited about what lies ahead. I can’t wait to get out there, connect with the fans, and give them everything I’ve got. Let’s go!”

Sargent made these comments in his first public remarks since joining the classic hard rock band.

Justin Sargent is a Broadway and television actor who has appeared in productions including Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Rock of Ages, and Bonnie & Clyde. According to reports, band manager Robby Hoffman discovered Sargent singing at a charity event in New Jersey. The band had opened auditions around the world and partnered with music retailer Sweetwater in 2026, receiving approximately 1,500 singer submissions before finding their new frontman.

Guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo spoke about Sargent’s audition, saying that once he walked in the room, “Everything about him; his voice, his attitude, his demeanor, it all just fit.” The search for a new vocalist lasted more than two years following Erik Grönwall’s departure in 2024. Grönwall had stepped down after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2021, due to difficulty juggling both his health and his responsibilities to the band.

Skid Row have already begun working with Sargent in the studio. The band chose The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” as their first recording with Sargent, bringing aggressive guitars, pounding drums and Sargent’s powerful vocals to the classic track. Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, who produced the band’s 2022 album The Gang’s All Here, returned to work with the band on this recording.

The band are working on original material with Sargent for a future release. No new album or release date has been announced at this time, but the group appears focused on building their catalog with their new singer and establishing Sargent’s place in the band’s storied history.
