Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee hinted at the possibility of new music from the band in a recent interview published on Billboard.

The comments came as Lee discussed the band’s upcoming The Return of the Carnival of Sins! summer tour. He also touched on what fans might expect from Mötley Crüe beyond the live dates.

“It’s gonna be fun,” Lee said. “The last run we did was all stadiums, which was f*cking phenomenal. But I really do love a good outdoor amphitheater, shed vibe. That’s always fun in the summer.”

Lee then shifted focus to the band’s creative activity, suggesting that new material could be on the horizon following the tour.

“We’re always writing, and we do have some stuff kicking around,” he continued. “But right now the only thing in front of us is going out to do these summer dates. But after that I think it’s safe to say you’ll probably be hearing some new stuff in ’27.”

The remarks suggest that while the band remains focused on their upcoming tour, a new release could follow in 2027.

The upcoming tour carries added significance beyond just a summer run. It marks a milestone moment for the band on multiple fronts, with the live dates serving as a backdrop for what could be a broader creative resurgence.

The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of the band’s original Carnival of Sins tour, as well as Mötley Crüe’s 45th anniversary as a band, as reported by SeatGeek. The trek is set to kick off on July 17, 2026, in Burgettstown, PA. It will run through September 26, 2026, with stops across 33 cities in the U.S. and Canada, per Loud Hailer Magazine.

The tour also comes as the band continues to move forward with a revamped lineup. Mötley Crüe’s most recent new music came in 2024 with the EP Cancelled, which featured new material recorded with guitarist John 5. John 5 joined the band after founding member Mick Mars stepped back from touring, as noted by SeatGeek.

With Cancelled marking the band’s first new output in years, Lee’s comments about material “kicking around” suggest the creative momentum has continued. A 2027 release would arrive roughly three years after the EP. It could represent their most substantial new work in over a decade.
