Former and current King Diamond members have reunited to form a new band called Lex Legion, as announced on Lex Legion Official.

The new supergroup brings together four-fifths of King Diamond’s classic late ’80s lineup, marking a significant reunion in the metal world.

“Four-fifths of King Diamond’s classic late ’80s lineup have reunited in a new band, Lex Legion,” the band announced. “Featuring Mikkey Dee, Andy La Rocque, Pete Blakk, and Hal Patino—alongside vocalist Nils K. Rue (Pagan’s Mind)—the group brings together decades of experience spanning Motörhead, Scorpions, and of course King Diamond.”

The formation represents more than just a casual collaboration between veteran musicians.

“Formed by Dee and Blakk and completed by longtime collaborators and friends, Lex Legion is built on both legacy and longevity,” they continued. “What began as a long-discussed idea between close-knit musicians has evolved into a serious project, fueled by over 40 years of shared history and a renewed creative focus free from the constraints of their earlier careers.”

This reunion brings together musicians whose careers have spanned some of metal’s most influential bands and albums.

Dee’s journey with King Diamond began in the mid-1980s, where he first gained international recognition. Kahawatungu reported that Dee’s first major international recognition came when he joined King Diamond in the mid-1980s, playing on influential albums Fatal Portrait and Abigail, showcasing his precise double bass technique.

The drummer’s reputation extended beyond King Diamond, eventually catching the attention of Motörhead’s legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Wikipedia noted that Lemmy had known Mikkey Dee from the time when King Diamond had toured with Motörhead. He had asked Dee to become Motörhead’s drummer before, though Dee initially declined.

The chemistry between these King Diamond veterans runs deep, forged during the band’s most defining era. Loaded Radio highlighted that Mikkey Dee, Andy La Rocque, Pete Blakk, and Hal Patino have decades of history tied together through King Diamond’s most defining era. That chemistry continues to drive their new project.

The announcement marks the beginning of what appears to be a serious musical endeavor from these seasoned metal veterans. Loaded Radio confirmed that a new album is planned for 2026.
