Maynard James Keenan recently discussed the future of Sessanta shows, outlining specific requirements for potential upcoming tours in an interview with Loudwire.

The Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman addressed questions about his various projects and the possibility of more collaborative Sessanta performances featuring Puscifer, Primus, and A Perfect Circle.

When asked about updates on A Perfect Circle and Tool while discussing his current focus on Puscifer, Keenan provided insight into the conditions necessary for future Sessanta tours.

“A bunch of people involved in Sessanta wanted to go right back out and do another one with Primus and Perfect Circle and Puscifer, but I felt like, and Les [Claypool] agrees and Billy [Howerdel] agreed that unless we have actually new songs to do, it doesn’t make any sense to take that out,” Keenan said.

He elaborated on the collaborative process required to make future shows happen.

“So Les, I’m sure, now is working with Blair and John Hoffman to do some new Primus songs, which would then tee it up for us to go out and do another Sessanta, but that also requires me to start working with Billy to get some songs going for A Perfect Circle as well,” he continued. “We have always been doing that, but it’s just more about turning up the heat and getting it going.”

The statement indicates that new material from all participating bands would be necessary before another Sessanta tour could move forward.

Keenan’s emphasis on new material comes as his various projects continue to evolve and release fresh content. The original Sessanta tour concept was built around celebrating Keenan’s 60th birthday. It featured a unique format where Chaos Zine reported the three bands shared a stage with three drummers and lounges for off-stage interactions between performances.

Puscifer has already delivered on the new material front with their latest release. Puscifer’s official website confirmed that the band released “Normal Isn’t,” their first album in over five years, on February 6, 2026, via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG. The album features tracks like “Thrust” and includes a Sessanta live mix of “The Algorithm,” directly connecting the new material to the collaborative tour concept.

Meanwhile, A Perfect Circle is maintaining an active touring schedule that could complement future Sessanta plans. Chaos Zine noted that A Perfect Circle has scheduled European tour dates for June and July 2026, including performances at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and appearances at major festivals like Rock am Ring.

The collaborative nature of Sessanta represents a unique approach in rock music, where three distinct bands with overlapping membership create a shared experience. Puscifer has already contributed new material and A Perfect Circle maintains tour momentum. The focus now shifts to Primus and their creative output as a determining factor for future Sessanta shows.
