Mick Mars’ daughter Stormy Deal has shared hints about her father’s upcoming solo work. She posted content that suggests the former Mötley Crüe guitarist’s second solo album may be in development, based on a post on Instagram.
Deal shared a clip from Mars’ interview with Audacy from last year. In the interview, he discussed his plans for future solo material outside of his work with Mötley Crüe.
Mars explained his creative evolution since retiring from the band when asked about his possible second solo album.
“Yes, that’s correct. It took me 40 years because, you know, Mötley was priority. It’s like, ‘Okay, I got an idea,’ you know, it’s about Mötley. When I was in Mötley, I wrote Mötley Crüe songs. And now that I’m retired, I’m just me, you know,” Mars said.
The guitarist elaborated on his current creative approach and openness to future collaborations.
“If Mötley Crüe wanted me to write songs with them again, of course I would. But right now, I’m just like me so I’m writing and it’s not Mötley. It’s how I feel. It’s my kind of thing and kind of like trying to reinvent myself or bring myself up to date,” he continued.
Deal’s caption accompanying the post simply read “Pop Says Absolutely.” Fans are interpreting this as confirmation that Mars’ new solo material is moving forward.
This potential second solo album would follow Mars’ recent venture into solo territory after decades with Mötley Crüe. The guitarist has been actively pursuing independent projects since stepping away from the band that made him famous.
Mars successfully launched his solo career earlier this year with his debut album. IMDb reported that Mars released The Other Side of Mars in February 2024. The album marked his first solo effort after four decades with Mötley Crüe. The album represented a significant milestone for the guitarist, who had long prioritized the band’s material over his individual creative pursuits.
The timing of Deal’s social media hint aligns with Mars’ busy solo schedule. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that an untitled collaboration album featuring Mars and former Mötley Crüe vocalist John Corabi is slated for release in 2026. This project would reunite Mars with Corabi, who briefly served as the band’s frontman in the mid-1990s.
Mars’ transition to solo work represents a natural evolution for the guitarist. He spent decades crafting the signature sound of one of rock’s most successful bands. His recent projects demonstrate his commitment to exploring new creative territories while maintaining the musical expertise that defined his career with Mötley Crüe.
The guitarist’s solo endeavors have allowed him to express his individual artistic vision without the constraints of band dynamics. His willingness to collaborate with former bandmates like Corabi while pursuing independent projects shows his balanced approach to his post-Mötley Crüe career.
