Paris Jackson recently opened up about a serious health consequence she experienced. She shared her story on Paris Jackson Brasil TikTok.

In her candid statement, Jackson addressed a physical condition that has affected her daily life. She explained its underlying cause.

“I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable. I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum,” Jackson said.

She reflected on the choices that led to this condition. She offered a cautionary perspective to her audience.

“Don’t do drugs kids. Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life,” she continued.

Jackson’s disclosure serves as a personal account of the long-term physical consequences associated with drug use. Her openness about this condition sheds light on a serious health issue that many may not fully understand.

A perforated septum is a hole in the cartilage and bone between the nostrils. According to the NZ Herald, this condition is typically caused by damage from substances like snorted cocaine or other drugs that harm nasal tissue. The damage creates a hole that significantly affects nasal structure and function. Jackson revealed the extent of her condition, noting that the hole is large enough that she can “stick a spaghetti noodle” through her nose and see it arch out the other side.

A perforated septum is not life-threatening but can be difficult to manage. Per the NZ Herald, health consequences include difficulty managing nasal symptoms, possible chronic nasal irritation or crusting, and potential for nasal infections if untreated. The condition also explains Jackson’s earlier mention of the “really loud whistle” when she breathes through her nose.

Treatment options focus on symptom relief and prevention of infection. These include the use of antibiotic ointments, regular saline nasal rinses, and using a humidifier to maintain nasal moisture. Medical experts noted that serious complications are rare. However, if symptoms worsen, surgical repair may be considered as an option.

Paris Jackson marked five years of sobriety while sharing her experience with this condition. Her willingness to discuss this personal struggle publicly demonstrates her commitment to raising awareness about the serious consequences of substance abuse. She also highlights the possibility of recovery and healing.
