Metallica’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), has announced a $100,000 donation to support earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela.
The foundation issued a statement outlining the scale of the disaster and the intended use of the grant through its longtime partner, Direct Relief.
“In response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, AWMH is granting $100,000 in support through longtime partner Direct Relief,” the foundation said. “While the full scale of the damage is yet to be determined, the United Nations is reporting that up to 6.8 million Venezuelans may be affected, including those displaced or losing access to electricity and water. More than 68,000 people were reported missing within three days of the disaster, and the official death toll is over 2,000.”
The statement also detailed how Direct Relief plans to deploy the aid on the ground.
“Direct Relief is preparing medical aid commonly needed after earthquakes, including first-aid supplies, hygiene items for displaced families, medicines used to treat acute injuries, and chronic disease medications for people whose access to routine care may be interrupted,” the foundation continued. “AWMH’s $100,000 grant will support Direct Relief as the organization continues to respond to requests in the region as they become known.”
The donation comes in response to one of the most destructive seismic events in Venezuela’s recent history, with the full humanitarian toll still emerging weeks after the initial strikes.
The earthquakes measured magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5. They struck north-central Venezuela on June 24 less than a minute apart, affecting at least seven states. La Guaira was identified as the hardest-hit area. NASA satellite analysis indicates that nearly 60,000 buildings have been either damaged or destroyed across the affected region.
Over 600 aftershocks have continued to complicate rescue operations. Direct Relief is providing emergency funding to support the deployment of Bomberos Unidos Sin Fronteras, a Spain-based search-and-rescue organization, to assist with operations in the affected areas.
This contribution is consistent with AWMH’s established pattern of rapid disaster response. The foundation previously donated $100,000 each to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton relief efforts in October 2024. It has also directed funds toward wildfire relief in both Northern and Southern California.
Founded in 2017 by the members and management of Metallica, All Within My Hands was built with a mission to support communities in the wake of natural disasters and other crises. The Venezuela grant reflects the foundation’s continued commitment to deploying resources quickly where the need is greatest.
