Maynard James Keenan Clears The Air About ‘Heart Damage Rumors’ After Catching The Virus Twice
Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan opened up about his current health status during an interview with Revolver, after experiencing COVID-19 not once but twice last year, and apparently, Keenan is getting better thanks to his consistent workout program and haven’t experienced anything related to his heart yet.
As many of you might remember, Maynard James Keenan first opened up about his coronavirus experience during an appearance on Joe Rogan Experience, after being diagnosed with COVID-19 back in February 2020. Keenan realized something was wrong when he was out for dinner with friends and the food tasted wrong. While a doctor told him he didn’t have the coronavirus, Keenan was told to have the COVID-19 after a few days by another doctor.
Here is what Maynard said about his first experience:
“I survived it, but it wasn’t pretty. I had to go through some major medications to undo the residual effects. Still coughing. There’s still lung damage.”
Puscifer lead vocalist, unfortunately, experienced after-effects such as coughing, joint aches, and a hard time breathing sometimes as he revealed during various interviews, and sadly he caught the coronavirus once again in December 2020. Again, Keenan had a hard time talking without the need of catching a breath and cough.
Here is what he said:
“I don’t know if I said anything online, but I had it twice. Ugly, ugly. Couldn’t breathe. I could barely put two words together without going into a coughing fit that, you know? It ended up kind of also progressing into pneumonia. So, if I stayed in the hospital, they said, ‘Okay, we can keep you here, but you’re fighting 12 other people for a bed and a ventilator we don’t have, so what do you want to do?’ I’m like, ‘Well, I need to breathe and I need to sleep.’”
During a recent interview, Maynard James Keenan was asked about his two times COVID-19 experience and if there are any after-effects still there, especially in his lungs. Keenan revealed that after taking numerous health tests over and over, he luckily seems to be okay after months.
In addition to this, Puscifer’s frontman revealed that he has a consistent workout program to keep his body healthy by doing jiu-jitsu. He also stated that he heard the possibility of future heart conditions after experiencing COVID-19, however, he hasn’t experienced such a thing up until now.
Here is what Keenan said:
“I made it through, it took a lot of protocols in place when you show up, it’s just like any other set in Southern California – antigen tests, nose swabs, temperature checks, sending stuff off to the lab, waiting for it to come back… A lot of protocols, but everybody made it through without a hitch, so I guess we did the right thing.”
“I think everything’s good. I have a pretty consistent workout program. Doing jiu-jitsu is not easy, so a lot of those things would come up, I suppose. I’ve heard rumors of heart conditions and things that come up later. I have not yet experienced any of those things, so – knock on wood.”
