Alkaline Trio has abruptly cancelled the remainder of its 2026 European tour due to frontman Matt Skiba’s deteriorating health condition.
The band issued an official statement explaining the sudden cancellation. It cited worsening medical issues that require Skiba to return to the United States for treatment.
“We are immensely sorry, but we must cancel our dates in England, including tonight’s show in Birmingham, due to medical issues Matt has been suffering from that have worsened,” the band’s announcement read. “He’s gonna be okay but needs to be treated stateside as soon as possible. We will be back healthier and stronger!”
Following the band’s announcement, Skiba also shared his own personal message to fans.
“Love y’all so much,” the former Blink-182 singer said. “Thank you to my beautiful bandmates and crew, the promoters and our label and teams here that have been so kind and understanding. Thank you to THE FANS and all my homies for reaching out. I love all of you so much and we’ll be back asap to make these shows up to you.”
The band has assured fans that Skiba is expected to recover, with plans to reschedule the cancelled dates in the future.
The cancellation came just hours before the tour was set to kick off, leaving fans with little notice. The band has not disclosed the specific nature of his medical issues, though the situation appears to have escalated quickly enough to warrant an immediate return home.
Reports indicate that Skiba was involved in a motorcycle crash last week, resulting in an injury to his leg. It remains unclear whether that incident is directly connected to the worsening condition that ultimately forced the tour’s cancellation.
The scrapped run was set to include six UK dates throughout July, with shows scheduled in Birmingham, London, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, and Cheltenham. Fans have been directed to seek refunds at their point of purchase.
Skiba served as the lead vocalist for Blink-182 from 2015 to 2022. He stepped in after Tom DeLonge’s departure before eventually returning full-time to his role as Alkaline Trio’s frontman.
Alkaline Trio is scheduled to tour the United States this fall alongside Rise Against. No word has been given on whether Skiba’s current health situation will impact those upcoming dates.
