Trivium’s Matt Heafy recently highlighted Swedish metal band Orbit Culture as a must-watch act for 2026. He praised their unique sound and powerful vocals in an interview with Guitar.com.

Heafy expressed his admiration for the band’s distinctive approach to metal. He compared them to established acts while noting their fresh perspective.

“I love Orbit Culture so much. I’d say, if someone hasn’t heard them before, I don’t want to pigeonhole them but they’re for fans of Gojira, Machine Head, Fear Factory – the glory days of each of these bands,” Heafy said. “It reminds me of melodic death metal in a way, but it’s not. It’s got moments of the 2000s vibe of the Gothenburg sound. The songs are awesome, the production is awesome. But, it’s done very differently. I think it’s really cool that, at times, the drums will really just groove. It’ll give almost a Chaos A.D. kind of simplicity, drum-wise.”

The Trivium frontman particularly praised vocalist Niklas Karlsson’s vocal abilities and their influence on his own technique.

“Vocally, Niklas is a powerhouse. Just like Joe, he’s able to do very low screams to very high screams. He has such a great grit scream,” Heafy continued. “His gritty singing reminds me of Ride the Lightning. It doesn’t sound like James Hetfield, but it makes you think of Hetfield from ’84, ’85, ’86.”

Heafy revealed that Karlsson’s vocal style actually inspired him to return to his own grittier screaming technique after years of using a safer approach.

“Niklas was one of the people who influenced me to get my grit scream back. The first time we toured with them, I was still doing my safe screaming that I’d done for 10 years,” he said. “I remember hearing Niklas’ voice and I was like, ‘Goddamn!’ He was definitely one of my inspirations to get that back. The fact that a band that’s relatively new can inspire a band that’s been doing it for 27 years, that’s awesome.”

Heafy’s endorsement comes at a pivotal time for Orbit Culture. The Swedish band continues to build momentum in the international metal scene.

Inferno Festival reported that Orbit Culture is a Swedish melodic death metal band that was founded in 2013. The band will perform at Inferno Festival 2026 from April 2-5. The band has steadily gained recognition over the past decade. They have established themselves as one of the most promising acts in the melodic death metal genre.

The band’s recent success has been particularly notable in 2025. Metal Hammer noted that their 2025 album “Death Above Life” landed at #36 on Metal Hammer’s Albums of the Year list. The publication observed that these melodic death metal Swedes have been on a seriously hot streak over their last few albums.

This recognition from both established musicians like Heafy and major metal publications demonstrates Orbit Culture’s growing influence in the metal community. Their ability to blend traditional melodic death metal elements with modern production techniques has created a sound that resonates with both veteran metalheads and newer fans of the genre.

The band’s upcoming festival appearances, including their slot at Inferno Festival 2026, will provide them with significant exposure to international audiences. These performances represent crucial opportunities for Orbit Culture to expand their fanbase. They also help solidify their position as one of the leading acts in contemporary melodic death metal.
