Mark Tremonti recently addressed rumors about a feud between Scott Stapp and Fred Durst ahead of their upcoming joint tour. He clarified the situation in an interview with Rock Feed.

The Creed guitarist’s comments came in response to questions about the band’s upcoming festival appearance with Limp Bizkit and the alleged tension between the frontmen.

When asked about performing at a festival with Limp Bizkit, Tremonti was enthusiastic about the collaboration.

“Yeah. They’re incredible. One of the best live bands out there,” Tremonti said. “And you know, when we put that on sale, everybody’s like, ‘What about the beef?’ Between Scott [Stapp] and Fred [Durst]. There was no serious beef. Just he says, she said thing, just like the song, right?”

Tremonti went on to emphasize the positive relationship between the musicians and his own experience working with Limp Bizkit.

“But Scott and Fred, Scott said those guys have been friendly for a long time. And I’ve done shows opening up for them with my band Tremonti,” he continued. “And they’ve been nothing but gracious to me and it’s going to be awesome. I think people that want to see that ’90s rock are going to be in heaven.”

The joint tour promises to deliver a nostalgic experience for fans of ’90s rock music.

Tremonti’s comments address a rivalry that has captivated rock fans for over two decades. The feud stemmed from one of the most publicized feuds of the nu metal era.

Louder Sound reported that the bad blood between Stapp and Durst dates back to the early 2000s. Durst publicly called Stapp an “egomaniac” and a “punk” onstage during that time. This public confrontation helped spark one of rock’s most talked-about rivalries during the height of both bands’ popularity.

The feud escalated beyond verbal exchanges when Stapp challenged Durst to settle their differences in the boxing ring. Fan archives documented that Stapp proposed a charity boxing match that Durst ultimately declined to accept. The rejected challenge became another talking point in their ongoing war of words.

Despite the past hostility and public exchanges, Parade noted that the two rock powerhouses have now squashed their 25-year feud for this legendary concert collaboration. The reconciliation marks a significant moment for fans who witnessed the height of their rivalry during the nu metal boom.

Their upcoming shared bill follows Creed’s broader resurgence in recent years. The band has included new festival dates and special events that lean heavily into late-’90s and early-2000s nostalgia for longtime fans. The collaboration represents not just a personal reconciliation but also a celebration of an era that defined rock music for millions of listeners worldwide.
