Marilyn Manson is celebrating his four-year sobriety.
In a new video on Tania Estrada’s Instagram account, Manson celebrates his birthday and gives a speech. “Thank you everybody for coming. I really appreciate it,” he starts his speech. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for everybody here, even the new people I haven’t met yet, and everybody else who loves and supports me. I love you guys. Thank you for everything. In exactly one month, it will be my fourth year sober,” Manson adds.
In early March last year, Manson announced a new tour with Five Finger Death Punch, his first in five years. After announcing he would be back on stage, fans had their concerns as to whether or not Manson could stay sober. However, FFDP guitarist Zoltan Bathory addressed the misconceptions in an interview.
“Manson hasn’t been out on the road for a while, so a lot of people wanna see him. At one point, he was one of the most iconic artists on planet Earth. So, he’s back on stage, back in the saddle. That’s gonna be amazing. He’s also sober and clean, so we always support that, obviously,” the guitarist revealed.
He also assured his fans that Manson is a different person now: “Ivan [Moody] had a dark period, and he was gone, man. My little brother was on the brink of dying, man, and he came back from that. And he’s clean and sober for six years. If he can do it, somebody who was that gone can do it, and he’s now a different man, then it’s a good example for anyone else. If you’re struggling, man, don’t give up. You can come back from that. And Manson is sober and he’s staying clean and doing the work, so also, we’re supporting that. So, it’s gonna be an amazing tour.”
Manson also seems to have proved that he’s going strong with sobriety with his latest album, ‘One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1.’ Fans realized that Manson sounded better than ever when sober. “His voice, the lyrics. He sounds so good!! He’s sober, healthy, and better than ever! I can’t wait to see him next month,” a commenter wrote about the first single of the album, ‘As Sick As The Secrets Within.’
Another added, “Music doesn’t make me feel much these days. But hearing Manson sounding clean, healthy, and 20+ years younger has filled my heart with such emotional joy. Welcome back, Brian. The glory days are back! Congratulations.”
Fans will be able to hear Manson sober, as he is now gearing up for his European tour. The tour starts on February 10 in Zurich, Switzerland, and wraps up on February 23 in Wolverhampton, UK.
