Marianne Faithfull Regrets Choosing Mick Jagger Over Jimi Hendrix

Marianne Faithful recently joined an interview with Classic Rock and admitted that she had regrets about not being with Jimi Hendrix instead of Mick Jagger.

Marianne Faithful’s relationship with the Rolling Stones members began when she was just 18 years old. The band’s manager introduced her to the band, and she was married with a child at that time. However, Faithfull got divorced from her husband and started to spend more time with the Stones.

After some time, the Stones frontman Mick Jagger and Marianne started dating. Their relationship lasted for four years, between 1966 and 1970. Jagger and Faithfull’s affair got highly publicized throughout their relationship, especially after a drug bust at Keith Richards’ Sussex home.

Faithfull was emotionally damaged after making the headlines labeled ‘Naked Girl At Stones Party.’ On top of that, Mick Jagger continued to have affairs with several partners and cheated on Faithfull with Anita Pallenberg, her best friend. Due to these reasons, their relationship ended.

In an interview with Classic Rock, Marianne Faithfull revealed that she watched Jimi Hendrix at The Bag O’Nail’s, and she was the only person in the audience. She then said Hendrix did the whole show for her, and it was magical. According to Faithfull, she would’ve chosen to be with Hendrix if she wasn’t dating the Stones frontman at that time.

Marianne Faithfull told Classic Rock about Jimi Hendrix the following:

“I went to see him at his first show in a club in London called The Bag O’Nails. I was the only person there, apart from the roadies and Chas Chandler [Hendrix’s manager]. He saw me there, and he did this whole show to me.

It was magical. I met Hendrix quite a few times, and he always came on a bit strong to me. I couldn’t do anything because I was with Mick. I would have loved to. If I hadn’t been with Mick, I would’ve gone off with him. Jimi is my biggest regret.

So, it seems that Jimi Hendrix mesmerized Marianne Faithfull with his performance and personality to the extent that he became Faithfull’s biggest regret.
