Lars Ulrich Shares The Main Thing That Helped Metallica To Be A World-Renowned Band

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich spoke in a recent interview with Tanya’s Table Podcast and revealed one of the key reasons for their success.

Metallica is considered the best metal band in the world by almost every person in the scene. Their fame is beyond the rock/metal community, and they are always changing the culture of metal with their albums.

Lars wanted to talk about how they were such a successful band compared to the other by pointing out the fact that nobody could have thought before, the freedom inside the band.

In the conversation, Lars stated that you need to give space and don’t force anything to do because some people could want to be alone while some of them want to be socialized.

Here is what Lars Ulrich said:

“The key to a successful band is freedom, not, ‘8 o’clock, we are going to eat then!’ Some people are lone wolves, some are more social, everyone is in a different mood, so you just learn to roll with that.

The main thing in being in a successful group – you gotta let people have their space and you don’t wanna ever make anything mandatory in the downtime, encourage people to be part of things.

Somebody needs to just rest, stare out of the window, get lost in the city, or whatever – that needs to be encouraged.”
