Three decades after the death of Kurt Cobain, alleged details of his suicide have surfaced online following the leak of his long-confidential autopsy report.

The autopsy report, reportedly published on X by a retired Los Angeles sheriff’s detective named Tom Grant, reveals details of the rocker’s suicide. Found dead in his Seattle home on April 8, 1994, the report suggests Cobain died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Reaction From Fans And The Public

The report also mentions the presence of a high concentration of drugs, including heroin and traces of Valium, in Cobain’s system. The leak has prompted an outpouring of reactions from fans and the public. Following Grant’s post, which included a link to download the report, fans expressed a mix of shock and gratitude. One of them said:

“I can’t believe it. This is it. Thanks, Tom, thanks, dearest Tom. Thanks. We can get justice for Kurt finally. Thanks.”

Another one wrote, sharing their thoughts on Kurt’s passing:

“Finally, we can dispel rumors that Kurt had heroin shot up into both arms. Since one had a cotton ball, it was likely from him having blood drawn in rehab.”

Authenticity And Confidentiality Of The Report

Cobain had been publicly battling heroin addiction and chronic depression, issues that plagued him in the years leading up to his untimely death. However, the authenticity of this leaked autopsy report has not been verified. Originally, the singer’s autopsy was never officially released, adhering to Washington state law, which mandates confidentiality for such records.

Accompanying Cobain’s body was a suicide note addressed to his imaginary friend, Boddah. The note, filled with messages to his wife, Courtney Love, and daughter, Frances Bean, ended with a line from Neil Young’s song, ‘My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)’: ‘It’s better to burn out than to fade away.’

Courtney had hired Tom Grant just days before Cobain’s body was discovered. Grant later released the book ‘The Mysterious Death of Kurt Cobain: Suicide or Murder? You Decide’ in 2016.
