Six Feet Under have officially parted ways with longtime drummer Marco Pitruzzella and announced his replacement. The band shared the news in a statement on their Facebook page.

The band addressed their fans directly, sharing news about their upcoming touring schedule while simultaneously introducing Ruston Grosse as Pitruzzella’s replacement.

“Just wanted to let all Our Fans, Worldwide, know that we are beyond excited to start our European tour this coming week, and kicking off our intense Summer Touring schedule which will last into the Fall and finish up in South America in October/November,” the band said.

The statement also formally confirmed the drummer change. It revealed that Grosse had already been working with the band for some time prior to the announcement.

“We also would like you to help us welcoming Our New Drummer!! Ruston Grosse who has previously worked with Master, and others!” they continued. “We have been working together with Ruston for a few months preparing, and formally since the beginning of May after we parted ways with Marco Pitruzzella.”

The band expressed enthusiasm about the new direction Grosse brings to their sound.

“Everyone in the Band is very excited about this New Chapter of Six Feet Under and the Heavy Groove that Ruston is bringing to the Rhythm Section!!” they added. “He’s a Brutalizer! and a Great guy. We will see you all, from the Stage, SOON!!!”

Six Feet Under are set to kick off their European tour imminently. The summer run will extend through to South America in October and November.

The drummer change marks a notable shift in the band’s lineup. Grosse steps into a role that carries significant weight in the Six Feet Under rhythm section.

As Loudwire reported, Six Feet Under’s split with Marco Pitruzzella and the subsequent announcement of Ruston Grosse as his replacement drew attention across the metal community. The news underscored the significance of the lineup change for one of death metal’s most enduring acts.

Grosse is not an unknown figure in the underground metal scene. The band noted that he has previously worked with Master, the influential death metal outfit led by Paul Speckmann. This signals that Grosse brings serious extreme metal credentials to his new role with Six Feet Under.

The transition appears to have been a carefully managed one. Rather than an abrupt departure, the band revealed that Grosse had been working with them for several months in preparation. The arrangement became formal at the beginning of May, suggesting the split with Pitruzzella was handled with the band’s touring commitments firmly in mind.

With a packed schedule ahead — spanning Europe through the summer and culminating in South America in October and November — Six Feet Under wasted no time in ensuring continuity. The band’s confidence in Grosse is evident, and if their statement is any indication, fans can expect the group to hit the road with full momentum behind this new chapter.
