As Metallica’s M72 World Tour continues, Metallica fans were left frightened by the lead guitarist Kirk Hammett’s recent stage accident during a live performance.

The incident happened during the band’s first night at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, as part of their European dates to support their latest album, ‘72 Seasons.’ The musician faced a problem with his knee while playing ‘Master of Puppets,’ the closing song of the show.

Videos filmed by fans show Hammett standing on one leg for a few seconds, trying to ease the discomfort in his knee. Despite the pain, he continued playing. Fortunately, the guitarist eventually recovered and appeared to be in better condition towards the end of the song.

This tour is accompanied by the ‘No Repeat Weekend’ concept, where Metallica has two different setlists and opening acts on each of the two nights. These setlists include lesser-known songs from the band’s extensive catalog.

After several European dates, Metallica will continue their world tour with the North American leg, which will kick off in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in early August. They will visit different cities until mid-November and then return to Europe in May 2024 for more shows.

Also, last month, the band announced a series of special events that will accompany their M72 tour in North America. They plan to make the most of their time in each city by hosting film fests, pop-up stores, book signings by Ross Halfin, and opportunities to give back through their All Within My Hands (AWMH) foundation.

Below is a video of how Hammett injured himself on stage.
