Kevin Cronin addressed the scheduling conflict regarding REO Speedwagon’s reunion show in a recent interview with People Magazine.
“My June 14th Kevin Cronin Band concert with Styx in Bend, Oregon was announced long before the invitations for the Champaign event were sent out,” Cronin said. “This scheduling conflict prevents me from participating in the event, either in-person or virtually. That being said, I wish them all the best in fundraising for the Moffitt Cancer Center.”
Bassist Bruce Hall shared his response on Facebook. “I think we are all in a good place now,” Hall said.
The exchange emerged after recent tension between band members. REO Speedwagon had announced a one-night concert without Cronin’s participation.
The upcoming reunion marks a significant milestone in the band’s history. It brings together several key members for a special cause.
Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that six former members will unite for a retrospective concert. Neal Doughty, Alan Gratzer, Bruce Hall, Terry Luttrell, Mike Murphy, and Steve Scorfina will perform in Champaign, Illinois, on June 14, 2025.
State Farm Center confirmed the event’s charitable focus. The concert will support the REO Speedwagon Foundation’s efforts in rare gastrointestinal cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Cronin’s connection to the band spans decades. He first recorded an album with REO Speedwagon in the early 1970s. After a brief departure, he returned to guide the band through their most successful commercial period.
The reunion show will celebrate the band’s legacy with special guests. A dedicated in memoriam segment will honor former members Gary Richrath and Gregg Philbin, highlighting their contributions to rock music.
