Kerry King: ‘I Never Liked Limp Bizkit’

In a recent chat with Metal Blast, Kerry King revealed he doesn’t like Limp Bizkit’s music.

The guitarist was asked what advice he would give his younger self about music. He said he wished he had paid more attention in the ’90s and avoided releasing bad albums then. He added:

“I don’t like the stuff we did in the ’90s. I was very disenchanted by music because bands that were getting popular I didn’t understand. And I still don’t understand. I never liked Limp Bizkit. I never liked bands of that era. It just bummed me out and turned me off.”

King Talks About Some Slayer Records

King shared the Slayer album he didn’t pay attention to:

“And it’s really visible to me on [1998’s] ‘Diabolus In Musica’. I didn’t pay any attention to that album. I had a couple of songs on there, but I didn’t contribute as much as I usually do. And then I came back to my senses and I said, ‘You know what? F*ck that.’ I’m, like, ‘We’re in Slayer. We need to be f*cking important. I need to pay attention to this sh*t.'”

Then, the musician changed his perspective on the next record:

“And you can tell that I started paying attention when [2001’s] ‘God Hates Us All’ came out, ’cause that was kind of our rebirth into, like, ‘Yeah, we got a little lost during the ’90s, but we righted the ship and here we go.'”

Grian Chatten Also Doesn’t Like Limp Bizkit

Kerry isn’t the only artist who doesn’t like Limp Bizkit. Fontaines DC’s Grian Chatten also revealed in an April conversation with the Guardian that he isn’t a fan of Limp Bizkit:

“[Korn] scared the sh*t out of me as a kid. I f*cking hate Limp Bizkit and don’t even really like Rage Against the Machine.”

Earlier this month, the Kerry King band had their first live show at Reggies in Chicago. Soon after, they went from small venues to big U.S. festivals like Welcome To Rockville in Florida and Sonic Temple in Ohio. The band is getting ready for a European tour starting on June 3.
