Fontaines DC’s Grian Chatten: ‘I Hate Limp Bizkit And RATM’

Fontaines DC’s Grian Chatten doesn’t like Limp Bizkit and RATM.

In a recent conversation with the Guardian, the vocalist said the following while all the members of the band were talking about Korn:

“[Korn] scared the sh*t out of me as a kid. I f*cking hate Limp Bizkit and don’t even really like Rage Against the Machine.”

The band’s guitarist Carlos O’Connell named Deftones and Alice In Chains as his influences. Fontaines DC also revealed that Korn was a big influence on their upcoming new record, ‘Romance.’ The album will arrive on August 23.

Fontaines DC Has A New Record Coming Out

The group announced their new effort on April 17 and also released the first single ‘Starburster’ on the same day. Bassist Connor Deegan reflected on the album in a statement:

We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance. Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as directly as (Mercury Prize-nominated debut) ‘Dogrel.’ The second album [the GRAMMY-nominated ‘A Hero’s Death’] is about that detachment, and the third [‘Skinty Fia’] is about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else there is to be romantic about.”

O’Connell added after his bandmate’s words:

“This record is about deciding what’s fantasy – the tangible world, or where you go in your mind. What represents reality more?”

Following the release of the record, Fontaines DC will be on the road to promote their new songs. Their UK tour starts on November 20 in Wolverhampton, The Halls, and ends on December 6 at Dublin 3Arena, Ireland. Before that tour, the band will also perform in different countries of Europe through the summer.
